Thousands of Tech-Voc Graduates, Job seekers join TESDA’s Enrollment and Jobs bridging in Davao region
A total of 18,732 enrollees, job seekers and technical vocational graduates participated in the two-day National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Enrollment and Jobs Bridging of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Davao region.
The two-day activity was conducted to seven areas in five provinces on February 27-28, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The said activity was done simultaneously nationwide.
The event, which was composed of two major scopes- TVET enrollment and jobs bridging- is aimed at intensifying TESDA’s advocacy to inform the public and promote the various programs and services TESDA has in store for them, especially those in the grassroots levels and as well as help TVET graduates, and other job seekers find jobs provided by partner agencies.
Based on TESDA XI’s record, a total of 2,292 jobs were available from 41 participating enterprise, 249 applicants, and 15 were hired on-the-spot.
The province of Compostela Valley recorded the highest number of enrolees in the region with 5,386, followed by Davao City with 4,948, Davao del Sur having 3,401, Davao Oriental with 2,010, Davao Occidental with 1,564 and Davao del Norte listing 1,423.
Davao region also ranked third among all the regions in the country with the highest number of enrolees.
With the overwhelming success of the event, TESDA officials are now eyeing to hold another National TVET Enrollment and Jobs Bridging program on April 5-6, 2018, in a bid to entice more scholars and increase number of enrollees from the construction and information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) sector.
Amid the implementation of President Rodrigo Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” program and the fast-changing world of technology at present, TESDA Director General Guiling “Gene” A. Mamondiong said the second TVET Enrollment and Jobs bridging serves as a respond to the said challenges.
The activity also targets to invite and bring in Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) particularly those who were from Kuwait and other parts of the Middle East who returned to the country after President Duterte ordered the deployment ban in the said areas following the cases of abuses against Filipino workers.
