TESDA Compostela Valley Celebrates International Women’s Day with Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
Fifty (50) women – Persons with Disability (PWDs) flocked to the gymnasium of LGU – Mabini, Compostela Valley on March 11, 2019 to avail of the free massage and other free services and goods provided by TESDA-Compostela Valley (TESDA-CV) for the latter’s celebration of the International Women’s Day.
During said celebration, the women – PWDs were treated to free manicure, pedicure, hand spa, make – up, facial massage, and hair cut, aside from the free massage. On top of said services, free malongs were given, plus a few grocery items and toiletries.
TESDA-CV was not alone in this yearly endeavor. It was joined by its TESDA Technological Institute (TTI) – Davao National Agricultural School (DNAS), and by all ComVal technical-vocational institutions (TVIs), namely: 1) Assumption College of Nabunturan (ACN), Inc., 2) Compostela Valley Technological College (CVTC), Inc., 3) Maco Institute of Technology (MIT), Inc., 4) Informatic Technical Institute (ITI) of ComVal Province, Inc., 5) Southern Philippines College of Technology (SPCT) of ComVal, Inc., 6) Nestor Fausta Memorial College, Inc., 7) Valiant Technical Institute and Assessment Center, Inc., 8) St. James College of Compostela, Inc., and 9) Legacy College of Compostela (LCC), Inc. which all contributed grocery items and toiletries for the beneficiaries. Another TVI, the 10) Compostela Valley Institute of Technology (ComVIT), Inc., provided the massage therapists, while the 11) Chef Logro Institute for Culinary and Kitchen Services (CLICKS), Inc. provided lunch for said women-PWDs, and TESDA-CV provided the morning and afternoon snacks for the beneficiaries and additional lunch for the personnel of all participating TVIs.
The activity was also made possible because of the assistance extended by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the Provincial Development Affairs Office (PDAO), LGU – Mabini, and the PWD Federation in identifying the beneficiaries.
The School President of CLICKS, Inc., Chef Pablo “Boy” Logro, made a special appearance to personally greet all the women present during the activity.
TESDA – CV Provincial Director Arlyn S. Bandong was grateful for all the partners who converged in that one special day to treat the hard-working women of Mabini who are PWDs at the same time. She also wished for a bigger celebration of the International Women’s Day on the coming years, and for more free service providers. She likewise thanked all the men and women who readily extended their services for free like the massage therapists from ComVIT, the community-based trainers on haircutting services, the trainers on beauty care services, and the TVIs which have been joining the cause of TESDA-CV annually, as well as the TESDA-CV personnel who also threw in some personal contributions just to have an equitable distribution of the goods provided to the beneficiaries.
The celebration of the International Women’s Day, which should be on the 8th day of March every year, is part of TESDA-CV’s celebration of Women’s Month. It is conducted by TESDA-CV as part of its social responsibility and as a thanksgiving for the bounty (in terms of outputs and accomplishments) that the office has been enjoying year after year. It is the office’s target to provide the same services across the whole of ComVal, thus, a different set of beneficiaries shall be identified every year.
