16 tech-voc trainees snatch gold in Davao City/Sur Provincial Skills Competition 2019

A total of 16 technical-vocational trainees were awarded with gold medals and Diploma of Excellence Awards for acquiring sufficient points to beat the competition standards as the two-day Davao City/Sur Provincial Skills Competition 2019 concluded on Thursday, March 21, 2019.

The Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center was the battlefield in the war of skills in Mechatronics, Automobile Technology, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Electrical Installations, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Welding Technology, Cooking, and Restaurant Services.

Computer-related skill areas were dueled in the Asian International Schools of Aeronautics and Technology gathering contingents in the Web Design and Development, IT Software Solutions for Business, IT Network Systems Administration, Information Network Cabling and Visual Graphic Design Technology.

Fashion Technology was competed in the Philippine Women’s College of Davao, Beauty Therapy at Carmelo C. Delo Cientos Sr. National Trade School and Hairdressing at the Arlyn Basquez Academy of Beauty and Assessment Center.

These were Kier Erwin Sustiverio and Christoperle Doblas of RTC for Mechatronics, Ed Laurence Inojales of RTC for Mechanical Engineering CAD, Cesar Co, Jr. of RTC for Welding Cesar Co, Jr. of RTC for Welding Technology, Roshian Adrian Tolentino of UIC for Web Design and Development, Joeretz Yee of UIC for IT Software Solutions of Business, Edgar Secuya, Jr. of CORE for Information Network Cabling, Michael Joseph Lagang of UIC for IT Network System Administration, Jimson Usayan of RTC for Visual Graphic Design Technology, Patrick Quezon of PWC for Fashion Technology, Joel Baring, Jr. of CCNTS for Electrical Installations, Jay Taping of RTC for Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Jhon Alicar Tayros of RTC for Automobile Technology, Renz Ver Alberca of CCNTS for Beauty Therapy, Elbridge Chester Elorde of Arlyn Basquez Academy for Hairdressing, Kent Bayog of UIC for Restaurant Services, and James Largo of UIC for Cooking.

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Davao Regional Director Engr. Lorenzo G. Macapili, in his speech during the opening ceremony held at the RTC-KorPhil Davao, shared that the event is “more than just a competition” and strongly described that it is “a manifestation of your participation of putting TVET to greater height”.

“We are here to stimulate greater appreciation to the general public, to scale up Technical Education,” he said before the experts, competitors, observers, among others.

RD Macapili also said that TESDA has the “zealous commitment” of providing clear direction in its role to nation building and emphasized that the presence of all the participants showed “your wanting of our guidance”.

The mentioned winners will escalate into a tougher experience in the Regional Skills Competition set on April 11-12, 2019, with all roads leading to Singapore for the 2020 ASEAN Skills Competition.
