TESDA trains IP women in Davao Occidental

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Davao Occidental Provincial Office is currently conducting a skills training program for lumad women.

A total of eight clusters of women Indigenous People (IPs) composed of at least 30 member beneficiaries in the different barangays in the said province. Four of which will be trained on Goat Raising and Production, two clusters will be on Swine Production while two other clusters will be on Chicken production projects.

TESDA Davao Occidental Provincial Director, Engr. Alfredo V. Panuela, Jr. said the agency will provide skills training under the Community-based Skills Training inclusive of life skills competencies and entrepreneurship for the sustainability of the project.

The program was launched last March 25, 2019 in partnership with the Province of Davao Occidental through the Planning Management Unit (PMU) who will take charge of the construction of needed facilities, availability of animals for production, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the entrepreneurship program and the Office of the Barangay Captain of South Lamidan.

Director Panuela said the program aims to empower IP women through skills training programs and provide assistance for sustainability.
