Assessors in construction industry undergo 4-day Capability Building in Davao
Some 48 assessors and would-be assessors from the different regions in the country are now in Davao City for the four-day Capability Building Program for Prospective Lead Assessors in Construction Sector under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
The said program aims to equip the prospective lead assessors in the Construction Sector particularly on Carpentry NC II, Carpentry NC III, Masonry NC I, Masonry NC II and Masonry NC III, with necessary knowledge and skills in conducting on-site trainings and competency assessments. The participants underwent actual competency assessments on-site and actual demonstration for the various qualifications.
After completing the program, the lead assessors will then conduct Multiplier’s Training Program in their respective regions and provinces in order to increase the number of trainers and assessors.
With the on-going implementation of the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program, the activity also serves as TESDA’s response to address the lack of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) trainers, assessors and skilled workers in the construction industry of the country.
“In the case of Davao region, we saw the need to multiply the number of assessors not only in the construction sector but also in other fields of specialization like agriculture, mechanical, metals and engineering and others,” TESDA XI Regional Director, Engr. Lorenzo G. Macapili, DTE said.
He added that TESDA XI is eyeing to conduct several batches of Multipliers Training Program within this year.
The program was facilitated by the Certification Office of TESDA and hosted by TESDA Region XI and Regional Training Center-Korean Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC). It was held from April 22-26, 2019 at the RTC-KPVTC, in Buhisan, Tibungco, Davao City.
