TESDA-ComVal Brings Free Services for the Urban Poor

One hundred ninety-two (192) persons flocked at the Municipal Dome, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province for the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor Field (PCUP) Caravan with the theme: “Pinagsama-samang Serbisyo, Para sa Tao” on May 31, 2019, headed by the PCUP-Field Operations Division for Mindanao (FODM) Chairperson, Alvin Feliciano, formerly TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations in partnership with TESDA-Compostela Valley Provincial Office and team, headed by Provincial Director, Arlyn S. Bandong.

Pursuant to Executive Order No.82 dated December 8, 1986, PCUP serves as the direct link of the urban poor to the government in policy formulation and program implementation addressed to their needs.

This activity aims to enhance awareness of the urban poor communities on the programs and services of the PCUP as well as other government agencies, to bring closer the basic services to the urban poor; and to broaden avenues for participation.

During the said activity, recipients of the said activity were treated to free manicure and pedicure, free hair cutting, and free massage.

Information booth for queries was also provided for the enrollment of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Scholarship Assistance Programs.

A total of sixty-six (66) were profiled, four (4) of which chose Bookkeeping NC III, Seven (7) for Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Eleven (11) for Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Four (4) for Computer Systems Servicing, Seven (7) for Housekeeping, Eleven (11) Driving, two (2) for Automotive Servicing, and Sixteen (16) for Bread and Pastry Production.

Once learners profile will be sorted, the listed names will be prioritized for the implementation of the training and scholarship programs.
