TESDA, DTI holds 5-day Entrepreneurship Training for Trainers
DAVAO CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority XI (TESDA XI) and the Department of Trade and Industry XI (DTI XI) are spearheading the conduct of the Entrepreneurship Training Program for trainers and would-be trainers in Region XI on August 19 to August 23, 2019.

The five-day training program aims to equip the participants, composed of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) trainers, Community Training Employment Coordinators (CTECs), TESDA personnel and would-be trainers the required competence to provide managerial and technical assistance to the trainees. A total of 32 individuals from the five provinces of Davao region joined the event.
TESDA XI Regional Director, Engr. Lorenzo G. Macapili, DTE said Entrepreneurship Trainers play a vital role in TESDA’s implementation of skills training programs as they will help develop the entrepreneurial skills of trainees and beneficiaries that would help them start-up business and be job-ready.
“One of the subjects being included in the program is Entrepreneurship because the overarching goal of the technical education and skills development (TESD) sector to the public and private TVET institutions is to produce graduates that are employment-ready either wage or self-employment,” Macapili said.
He added that said program also intends to increase the number of qualified Entrepreneur Trainers that will be capable to conduct the said training that will be integrated to the different scholarship training programs of TESDA such as Special Training for Employment (STEP), Special Skills Training Program (SSTP) and Community Based Training Programs.
Marie Anne Jover How, Ph.D., Division Chief of Industry Development and Services Division (IDSD) of DTI XI said through the activity, the participants will have in-depth understanding about entrepreneurship and business development and will be able to replicate the said program to the communities in their respective provinces.
How, along with Rita B. Pombo, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist, Gema GeniseEstrada, Trade and Industry Development Specialist, and Romeo N. Vasquez, Jr., CPA, Trade and Industry Development Specialist will be the facilitators and speakers of the training.
