TESDA XI lauds partners, outstanding employees
DAVAO CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region XI (TESDA XI) cited exemplary stakeholders and employees on Monday, September 16, 2019 for their invaluable contribution in the implementation of technical education and skills development programs in the region.
Various institutional and individual awards were conferred to outstanding TESDA personnel and active partners from government agencies, private firms, local government units (LGUs), and institutions during TESDA XI’s post celebration of the agency’s 25th Anniversary at the Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao City.
TESDA XI Regional Director, Engr. Lorenzo G. Macapili, DTE expressed his heartfelt gratitude and commendation to all partners, stakeholders, employees and personnel of TESDA XI for their effort, support and commitment in fulfilling the agency’s mandate.
“It is my sincerest hope that we will work together even more closely in the years ahead for the benefit not only of TESDA but for the good of the communities we serve. I express my best wishes to all for continued success,” he said.
Director Macapili also shared TESDA XI’s achievements bagging the Best Regional Office (medium category), Best Training Institution in both Regional and Specialized Training Center Category and TESDA Administered School Category for Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center (RTC-KPVTC) Davao and Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI) respectively.
The Province of Davao del Norte and the Office of The Congressional District 1 Compostela Valley Province were hailed as 2019 Kabalikat Regional and Provincial Awardees respectively. This recognizes the outstanding institutions, private firms/companies, Local Government Units (LGUs), Legislative Partners, National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Development Partners for their contribution in the promotion and development of the country’s technical and vocational workers.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ruel A. Abellar (regional winner) of Compostela Valley province and Ms. Glinda C. Galgo of Davao City, and Ms. Shiela S. Ando (provincial winner) of the province of Davao del Norte were named as 2019 Idols ng TESDA (Wage Employed Category). Said award is given to hard-working individuals who have become successful in their endeavors through their participation in technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs.
Another institutional award conferred was the TESDA Tagsanay Award, an institutional awards system that gives recognition and incentives to trainers from private and public technical vocational institutions (TVIs) and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs). TVET Trainers – Ms. Oliva A. Ramos of the Davao Oriental Polytechnic Institute (DOPI), Yolanda L. Manabat of Carmelo delos Cientos, Sr. National Trade School (CCNTS) and Rio L. Austria of Davao
National Agricultural School (DNAS) were this year’s awardees. Ms. Ramos was one of the top eight finalists in the national level.
Also TESDA XI’s pride is Mr. Larry D. Juario, Nurse II of DOPI who placed 1st runner up for the 2018 TESDA Model Employee Category II.
TVET Institutions who were recipients of the System for TVET Accreditation and Recognition (STAR) Program – a system of recognizing TVET programs that have exceeded the minimum requirements of program registration set by TESDA were likewise recognized.
Honored also during the celebration were 16 Loyalty Awardees and 17 retirees.
Apart from the institutional awards, 34 partners and stakeholders from both private and public sectors were given plaques of recognition for their unwavering
support and commitment to the programs and services of TESDA.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte stressed in her message, read by City Councilor Alberto Ungab, TESDA’s important role in providing access to industry relevant skills training programs for Filipinos.
“TESDA XI has been playing an important role in securing a better livelihood for its graduates. With this I would like to thank the men and women of TESDA XI for placing your time and talents in service of the people of Davao region,” Duterte said.
“You have provided training and assistance to thousands over the course of 2 and a half decades and I hope you never cease empowering more Filipinos in the next 25 years and more,” she added.
